My First Time Rock Climbing

Just like the name says; this outing is for those who have very little or no experience.

We supply all equipment needed for climbing. Professional Guide John W. McCrary

will start you on the beginner area. This is our most popular event and is a great outing for church youth groups, family get-togethers, corporate groups & activity dates.

The trails at Hurricane Creek Park are a great way to get an intense cardio workout in a scenic surrounding. The trails have become popular with the running community; featuring challenging technical terrain and flowing wide trails.

We will also be hosting a trail running race in early November.

Come and enjoy an intense workout during the crisp & cool Fall/Winter season at Hurricane Creek Park.

Hurricane Creek Park has approximately 8 miles of trail including “out & back” sections. There are many natural & man-made obstacles plus a steep entry & exit which make the ride a fun & challenging experience. Platform pedals are suggested as well as helmets & other protective gear. Due to the natural existing terrain the trails should be considered very technical with a high difficulty rating. Come check out our mountain bike race course,this is where most all the Free Ride/wooden features are located. Autumn & winter are perfect times of the year to get a fun workout in crisp & cool conditions.

Hurricane Creek Park is a 67+ acre natural area, nestled in a 500 foot deep canyon in the foothills of the Appalacian Mountains. The park was founded in 1961 by William "Buddy" Rogers. He ran the park as a day-hike/picnic area for forty years. In 2003 he donated his beloved park to the State of Alabama Wildlife & Fisheries.

The City of Cullman Parks & Recreation now has the responsibility of operating the property. There is something here for outdoor enthusiasts of all ages. The park features several waterfalls that are rain fed and run about eight months out of the year. There are many unusual rock formations, and beautiful scenic views. We have several miles of established hiking trails.

In addition to hiking, visitors can picnic beside the creek under the covered pavillion or at individual tables in the same vicinity. We are building mountain bike trails that are currently being detailed and finished, we are forging ahead with expansion on a daily basis. Check out our MTB Freeride Elements

Rock climbing is also offered to the seasoned climber. Or you may opt for our "My First TIme Rock Climbing" program which is offered every Saturday morning. This program is great for birthday parties, family get-togethers, activity dates, etc. Hurricane Creek Park has been added as a stop on the North Alabama Birding Trail and is host to many species of birds.

The park is open year-round!

Tuesday through Saturday from 9:00am till 5:00pm.

Sunday 1:00pm till 5:00pm.

The park is closed on Mondays.

Admission

$3.00 for adults

$2.50 for 17 & under.

Admission for groups of ten or more is $2.00 per person.

HCP accepts cash or personal local checks only.

We have a concession area located at the pro shop where we sell climbing & biking gear plus outdoor related gifts.
